Expertise since 1969

Haaga as a part of HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences is leading educator in the fields of hotel, restaurant and tourism in Finland. The history dates back to 1969 when the Hotel and Restaurant Institute started to operate in the very same premises. Eco awareness

In the future, education and training will play an increasingly important role in promoting sustainable development. In order to maintain credibility, organisations must practise what they preach. Haaga Ecoteam persistently continues to ensure that both students and staff at Haaga consider sustainable development as a natural part of their everyday actions.

WWF Finland has confirmed that Haaga Campus fulfils the Green Office criteria and has the right to use the Green Office logo when communicating internally as well as externally from 18th of September 2009 onwards. Green Office is a simple and light environmental management system developed by WWF Finland. Green Office is suitable for small and large offices in the private as well as the public sector. HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences is the first University that has engaged to launch Green Office on all its campuses in stages. With the help of the EMS, the company will be able to reduce office waste and save on materials and energy costs at the same time. The company will also benefit from a newly motivated and environmentally aware personnel and an improved corporate image. In addition to all this, the office can, for example, make an effort in saving forests and reducing emissions of carbon dioxide.

"Ecological activity is like a puzzle and you have an important role in this game!"
