An Economy of Values

Marco Steinberg is also known as a Associate Professor of Architecture in Harvard Design School. His research at Harvard is focused on applying strategic design to improve the quality of healthcare delivery. This work is focused on stroke care in the US, through his Stroke Pathways project: a strategic, full care cycle, inception to implementation project to radically improve patient outcomes at lower costs.

Steinberg’s responsibilities at the Finnish Innovation Fund (SITRA) include meeting internal strategic design needs as well as charting new forward oriented opportunities to help SITRA meet its mission of national innovation and well being. SITRA is an independent public fund which under the supervision of the Finnish Parliament promotes the welfare of Finnish society.

Beyond the Experience Economy 

Rolf Jensen has carved out a career as a principal in the Ministry of Defence, then at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and finally at the Ministery of Fisheries. In addition he has worked for the Copenhagen Institute of Future Studies as CEO between 1988-2001. He is a frequently used advisor, author and lecturer on subjects within the future and corporate storytelling. Currently he is on the boards of Børnefonden (The Childrens Foundation), Foreningen FAIR and Byprojekt Tordenskiold and also fellow at the Royal Geographical Society. He has written the bestsellers "The Dream Society" (translated into 10 languages) and "Heartstorm". The next book is called "The Future Makers".

Rolf Jensen incorporated the Dream Company year 2001. The name 'Dream Company' manifests that the dream and the company are two sides of the same equation. Increasingly, it is becoming crucial that we integrate the emotional aspects with business life and work. The future is where corporate storytelling becomes part of successful management. On the future marketplace, the winners are the best storytellers - the best story wins. We shed light on the stories right here and now. We are fascinated by the future because that is where we intend to spend the rest of our lives.

Mr Jaakko Nuutila
Chef, Ombudsman for Food Culture

Responsible Culinary Experiences 

Chef Jaakko Nuutila is a well known character in Finnish Gastronomy. He has an outstanding experience in restaurant business due to his long career from kitchen trainee to chef and restaurant manager positions at the best restaurants in Helsinki. He is the first CEC (WACS Certified Executive Chef) in Finland and was leading the Finnish Chefs Association for some years. He is a honorary member of EuroToques and one of the board members of the international Chaîne de Rôtisseurs. He has been working also abroad as a chef and as a culinary teacher. Chef Nuutila was starting the first chef tuition on polytechnical level at the Haaga Helia University of Applied Sciences. He is a lecturer and has a Master degree in Food Economics and doing now his post graduate studies in Organic Food System at the University of Helsinki. Chef Nuutila has written cook books and study books and writes often to newspapers and gastronomical reviews.

Chef Nuutila is now working as an ombudsman for Food Culture at the Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners. By his present position he represents the producers in a couple of dozens of committees and boards such as the National Health Board, EU Agricultural products quality and labelling teams and he is chairing the Finfood - Finnish Food Information as well as the Finnish Swan - label of Origin. He is also the creator of the Finnish Governments first Food Cultural Programme and works hard to get the finances for Food Culture to become a Major at the University of Helsinki. Jaakko Nuutila is heading towards politics and his goal is to make the politicians understand the meaning of a proper meal as well as the links from food to environment, national health and well being, national economy and culture. By his background and present studies, Chef Nuutila has an excellent understanding of sustainability and responsibility in the food chain including the professional kitchens.

Kalle Ruuskanen, Managing Director of Select Service Partner Finland Oy, is a Haaga alumni with a degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. His career in the field of hospitality started in a family company and continued in Restaurant Papà Giovanni as a Restaurant Manager. The largest privately owned restaurant company in Finland, Royal Ravintolat Ltd, employed him as a Business Group Director for 2001-2007.

Currently Kalle Ruuskanen is a Managing Director of Select Service Partner Finland Oy (SSP Finland). The company offers quality restaurant, cafe, kiosk, lounge and congress services at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport which has been ranked the best in Europe. SSP Finland operates over 20 restaurants, cafes, bars, lounges and the congress services with the assistance of 250 staff members.
